Benefits of Spiced Chai Tea

  • Pot to boil water and herbs
  • Strainer


  • 4 Cups (32 oz) of water
  • 1 – 3 in (7.6 cm) Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 in (2.5 cm) piece of fresh Ginger, cut into 4 slices
  • 1/2 tsp (2.84 grams) Cardamom pods, gently crushed
  • 10 Black Peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp (2.84 grams) Cloves
  • 1 tsp (5.69 grams) Coriander
  • 4 tea bags of Black Tea
  • 1 Cup (8 oz) Milk
  • Honey or other sweetener to taste

  • Bring water and spices to boil in a saucepan. 
  • Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. 
  • Add tea bags and milk, then simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Do not boil once milk is added
  • Remove tea bags and strain the tea into a warmed serving container.
  • Sweeten to taste.


The tea gets stronger the longer it sits, so if a stronger spice is desired, let sit for a while and reheat.
